Summary
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: veth: manage XDP program pointers during channel resize veth_set_channels() tears down XDP resources for removed RX queues without clearing rq->xdp_prog. If the program is then detached or replaced, those queues keep the old pointer after bpf_prog_put(). A later channel increase can re-enable NAPI and run the freed program. BUG: unable to handle page fault for address: ffffc90000256048 Oops: Oops: 0000 [#1] SMP KASAN NOPTI RIP: veth_xdp_rcv_skb (include/linux/filter.h:779 include/net/xdp.h:696 drivers/net/veth.c:820) Call Trace: veth_xdp_rcv (drivers/net/veth.c:941) veth_poll (drivers/net/veth.c:986) __napi_poll (net/core/dev.c:7787) net_rx_action (net/core/dev.c:7850 net/core/dev.c:8007) handle_softirqs (kernel/softirq.c:645) Kernel panic - not syncing: Fatal exception in interrupt

RTNL serialization makes this a deterministic sequence rather than a race or victim-dependent condition.
PR:L - ETHTOOL_MSG_CHANNELS_SET is GENL_UNS_ADMIN_PERM and RTM_SETLINK checks CAP_NET_ADMIN in the target network namespace; BPF_PROG_LOAD uses bpf_token_capable() to accept CAP_BPF/CAP_NET_ADMIN in a delegated token's user namespace, so init-namespace root is not required.
UI:N - The attacker performs the XDP replacement, both channel resizes, and the peer transmission; no victim must mount, open, or otherwise act on attacker-supplied data.
S:U - The stale rq->xdp_prog is consumed by veth_xdp_rcv_skb() inside the same host kernel that owns the veth device; it does not cross a VM, IOMMU, or separate security authority.
C:H - The removed rq retains a freed vmalloc-backed struct bpf_prog; reclaiming it controls fields read by __bpf_prog_run(), including insnsi and bpf_func, enabling kernel code execution and arbitrary kernel reads.
I:H - veth_xdp_rcv_skb() passes the stale program to bpf_prog_run_xdp(), and __bpf_prog_run() performs an indirect call through freed prog->bpf_func; controlled reuse can redirect kernel control flow.
A:H - The reported restored-queue packet reaches veth_xdp_rcv_skb() through veth_poll() and faults on the freed program, producing an oops and fatal kernel panic."
