Vulnerability from cvelistv5

Summary
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: netfilter: nf_queue: hold bridge skb->dev while queued br_pass_frame_up() rewrites skb->dev from the ingress port to the bridge master before queueing bridge LOCAL_IN packets. NFQUEUE only holds references on state.in/out and bridge physdevs, so a queued bridge packet can retain a freed bridge master in skb->dev until reinjection. When the verdict is reinjected later, br_netif_receive_skb() re-enters the receive path with skb->dev still pointing at the freed bridge master, triggering a use-after-free. Store skb->dev in the queue entry, hold a reference on it for the queue lifetime, and use the saved device when dropping queued packets during NETDEV_DOWN handling.

Remote packets alone cannot force the needed bridge teardown and userspace verdict sequence.\nAC:L - A local attacker can deterministically create a namespace, bridge/veth setup, NFQUEUE rule, queued packet, bridge teardown, and reinjection. There is no race dependent on conditions outside attacker control.\nPR:L - The setup requires CAP_NET_ADMIN, but netfilter and bridge configuration are reachable with CAP_NET_ADMIN inside a user-created network namespace on systems allowing unprivileged user namespaces. This is Low, not High.\nUI:N - No victim action is required once the local attacker runs the exploit sequence. The attacker controls packet injection, queueing, device teardown, and verdict delivery.\nS:U - The impact is kernel memory corruption within the same host security authority. This is a standard local kernel privilege escalation/DoS scenario, not a VM or hardware boundary escape.\nC:H - The bug is a use-after-free of the bridge master net_device retained in skb-\u003edev across NFQUEUE. Kernel UAFs can be leveraged for kernel memory disclosure, so confidentiality impact is High.\nI:H - The stale net_device pointer is dereferenced after free in the receive path and can plausibly be combined with heap reclaim/spraying for memory corruption or control-flow impact. As a kernel UAF, integrity impact is High.\nA:H - At minimum, reinjection can dereference freed net_device memory in netif_receive_skb and crash/oops the kernel. Repeated local triggering makes availability impact High."
