Summary
Wazuh is a free and open source platform used for threat prevention, detection, and response. From version 4.0.0 to before version 4.14.4, multiple heap-based out-of-bounds WRITE vulnerabilities exist in parse_uname_string() (remoted_op.c). This function processes OS identification data from agents and contains a dangerous code pattern that appears in 4 locations within the same function: writing to strlen(ptr) - 1 without checking for empty strings. When the string is empty, strlen() returns 0, and 0 - 1 wraps to SIZE_MAX due to unsigned integer underflow. Due to pointer arithmetic wrapping, SIZE_MAX effectively becomes -1, causing a write exactly 1 byte before the allocated buffer. This corrupts heap metadata (e.g., the chunk size field in glibc malloc), leading to heap corruption. This issue has been patched in version 4.14.4.

Summary
Wazuh is a free and open source platform used for threat prevention, detection, and response. From version 4.4.0 to before version 4.14.4, a path traversal vulnerability in Wazuh's cluster synchronization extraction routine allows an authenticated cluster peer to write arbitrary files outside the intended extraction directory on other cluster nodes. This can be escalated to code execution in the Wazuh service context by overwriting Python modules loaded by Wazuh components (proof of concept available as separate attachment). In deployments where the cluster daemon runs with elevated privileges, system-level compromise is possible. This issue has been patched in version 4.14.4.

Summary
Wazuh is a free and open source platform used for threat prevention, detection, and response. From version 4.8.0 to before version 4.14.4, a stack-based buffer overflow exists in print_hex_string() in wazuh-remoted. The bug is triggered when formatting attacker-controlled bytes using sprintf(dst_buf + 2*i, "%.2x", src_buf[i]) on platforms where char is treated as signed and the compiled code sign-extends bytes before the variadic call. For input bytes such as 0xFF, the formatting can emit "ffffffff" (8 chars) instead of "ff" (2 chars), causing an out-of-bounds write past a fixed 2049-byte stack buffer. The vulnerable path is reachable remotely prior to any agent authentication/registration logic via TCP/1514 when an oversized length prefix causes the “unexpected message (hex)” diagnostic path to run. Additionally, the same unauthenticated oversized-message diagnostic path logs an attacker-controlled hex dump to /var/ossec/logs/ossec.log for each trigger, allowing remote log amplification that can degrade monitoring fidelity and consume disk/I/O. This log amplification is reachable even without triggering the sign-extension overflow (e.g., using bytes < 0x80). This issue has been patched in version 4.14.4.

Summary
Wazuh is a free and open source platform used for threat prevention, detection, and response. From version 4.0.0 to before version 4.14.4, Wazuh's server API brute-force protection for POST /security/user/authenticate can be bypassed by sending concurrent authentication requests. Although the configured threshold (max_login_attempts, default 50) is enforced correctly for sequential requests, a parallel burst allows significantly more failed login attempts to be processed before the IP block is applied. This enables an attacker to perform more password guesses than the configured policy intends (e.g., 100 attempts processed where 50 should be allowed). This issue has been patched in version 4.14.4.

Summary
Wazuh is a free and open source platform used for threat prevention, detection, and response. From version 1.0.0 to before version 4.14.4, a heap-based out-of-bounds WRITE occurs in GetAlertData, resulting in writing a NULL byte exactly 1 byte before the start of the buffer allocated by strdup. Due to unsigned integer underflow and pointer arithmetic wrapping, the write lands at offset -1 from the buffer, corrupting heap metadata. A malicious actor can potentially leverage this issue through a compromised agent to cause denial of service or heap corruption by injecting a specially crafted alert into the alerts log file monitored by wazuh-logcollector. This issue has been patched in version 4.14.4.

Summary
Wazuh is a free and open source platform used for threat prevention, detection, and response. Starting in version 3.9.0 and prior to version 4.14.3, multiple stack-based buffer overflows exist in the Security Configuration Assessment (SCA) decoder (`wazuh-analysisd`). The use of `sprintf` with a floating-point (`%lf`) format specifier on a fixed-size 128-byte buffer allows a remote attacker to overflow the stack. A specially crafted JSON event can trigger this overflow, leading to a denial of service (crash) or potential RCE on the Wazuh manager. The vulnerability is located in `/src/analysisd/decoders/security_configuration_assessment.c`, within the `FillScanInfo` and `FillCheckEventInfo` functions. In multiple locations, a 128-byte buffer (`char value[OS_SIZE_128];`) is allocated on the stack to hold the string representation of a number from a JSON event. The code checks if the number is an integer or a double. If it's a double, it uses `sprintf(value, "%lf", ...)` to perform the conversion. This `sprintf` call is unbounded. If a floating-point number with a large exponent (e.g., `1.0e150`) is provided, `sprintf` will attempt to write its full string representation (a "1" followed by 150 zeros), which is larger than the 128-byte buffer, corrupting the stack. Version 4.14.3 patches the issue.

Summary
Wazuh is a free and open source platform used for threat prevention, detection, and response. Starting in version 4.4.0 and prior to version 4.14.3, a stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability exists in the Wazuh Database synchronization module (`wdb_delta_event.c`). The SQL query construction logic allows for an integer underflow when calculating the remaining buffer size. This occurs because the code incorrectly aggregates the return value of `snprintf`. If a specific database synchronization payload exceeds the size of the query buffer (2048 bytes), the size calculation wraps around to a massive integer, effectively removing bounds checking for subsequent writes. This allows an attacker to corrupt the stack, leading to a Denial of Service (DoS) or potentially RCE. Version 4.14.3 fixes the issue.

Summary
Wazuh is a free and open source platform used for threat prevention, detection, and response. Starting in version 4.3.0 and prior to version 4.14.3, a Denial of Service (DoS) vulnerability exists in the Wazuh API authentication middleware (`middlewares.py`). The application uses an asynchronous event loop (Starlette/Asyncio) to call a synchronous function (`generate_keypair`) that performs blocking disk I/O on every request containing a Bearer token. An unauthenticated remote attacker can exploit this by flooding the API with requests containing invalid Bearer tokens. This forces the single-threaded event loop to pause for file read operations repeatedly, starving the application of CPU resources and potentially preventing it from accepting or processing legitimate connections. Version 4.14.3 fixes the issue.

Summary
Wazuh is a free and open source platform used for threat prevention, detection, and response. Starting in version 3.9.0 and prior to version 4.14.3, a privilege escalation vulnerability exists in the Wazuh Manager's cluster synchronization protocol. The `wazuh-clusterd` service allows authenticated nodes to write arbitrary files to the manager’s file system with the permissions of the `wazuh` system user. Due to insecure default permissions, the `wazuh` user has write access to the manager's main configuration file (`/var/ossec/etc/ossec.conf`). By leveraging the cluster protocol to overwrite `ossec.conf`, an attacker can inject a malicious `<localfile>` command block. The `wazuh-logcollector` service, which runs as root, parses this configuration and executes the injected command. This chain allows an attacker with cluster credentials to gain full Root Remote Code Execution, violating the principle of least privilege and bypassing the intended security model. Version 4.14.3 fixes the issue.

- CWE-502 - Deserialization of Untrusted Data
Summary
Wazuh is a free and open source platform used for threat prevention, detection, and response. Versions 4.0.0 through 4.14.2 have a Remote Code Execution (RCE) vulnerability due to Deserialization of Untrusted Data). All Wazuh deployments using cluster mode (master/worker architecture) and any organization with a compromised worker node (e.g., through initial access, insider threat, or supply chain attack) are impacted. An attacker who gains access to a worker node (through any means) can achieve full RCE on the master node with root privileges. Version 4.14.3 fixes the issue.

Summary
Wazuh is a free and open source platform used for threat prevention, detection, and response. Prior to 4.12.0, a buffer over-read occurs in w_expression_match() when strlen() is called on str_test, because the corresponding buffer is not being properly NULL terminated during its allocation in OS_CleanMSG(). A compromised agent can cause a READ operation beyond the end of the allocated buffer (which may contain sensitive information) by sending a specially crafted message to the wazuh manager. An attacker who is able to craft and send an agent message to the wazuh manager can cause a buffer over-read and potentially access sensitive data. This vulnerability is fixed in 4.12.0.

Summary
Wazuh is a free and open source platform used for threat prevention, detection, and response. Prior to 4.11.0, fim_alert() implementation does not check whether the return value of ctime_r is NULL or not before calling strdup() on it. A compromised agent can cause a crash of analysisd by sending a specially crafted message to the wazuh manager. An attacker who is able to craft and send an agent message to the wazuh manager can cause analysisd to crash and make it unavailable. This vulnerability is fixed in 4.11.0.

- CWE-416 - Use After Free
Summary
Wazuh is a free and open source platform used for threat prevention, detection, and response. Prior to 4.11.0, w_copy_event_for_log() references memory (initially allocated in OS_CleanMSG()) after it has been freed. A compromised agent can potentially compromise the integrity of the application by sending a specially crafted message to the wazuh manager. An attacker who is able to craft and send an agent message to the wazuh manager can leverage this issue to potentially compromise the integrity of the application (the use of previously freed memory may corrupt valid data, if the memory area in question has been allocated and used properly elsewhere). This vulnerability is fixed in 4.11.0.

- CWE-126 - Buffer Over-read
Summary
Wazuh is a free and open source platform used for threat prevention, detection, and response. Prior to 4.10.2, a buffer over-read occurs in DecodeWinevt() when child_attr[p]->attributes[j] is accessed, because the corresponding index (j) is incorrect. While the buffer over-read is always triggered while resolving the arguments of mdebug2, specific configuration options (analysisd.debug=2) need to be in place for the respective data to be leaked. This vulnerability is fixed in 4.10.2.

- CWE-124 - Buffer Underwrite ('Buffer Underflow')
Summary
Wazuh is a free and open source platform used for threat prevention, detection, and response. A heap-based out-of-bounds WRITE occurs in decode_win_permissions, resulting in writing a NULL byte 2 bytes before the start of the buffer allocated to decoded_it. A compromised agent can potentially leverage this issue to perform remote code execution, by sending a specially crafted message to the wazuh manager. An attacker who is able to craft and send an agent message to the wazuh manager can leverage this issue to potentially achieve remote code execution on the wazuh manager (the exploitability of this vulnerability depends on the specifics of the respective heap allocator). This vulnerability is fixed in 4.10.2.

Summary
Wazuh is a free and open source platform used for threat prevention, detection, and response. fillData() implementation does not check whether value is NULL or not before calling os_strdup() on it. A compromised agent can cause a crash of analysisd by sending a specially crafted message to the wazuh manager. An attacker who is able to craft and send an agent message to the wazuh manager can cause analysisd to crash and make it unavailable. This vulnerability is fixed in 4.10.2.

CWE
- CWE-502 - Deserialization of Untrusted Data
Summary
Wazuh is a free and open source platform used for threat prevention, detection, and response. Starting in version 4.4.0 and prior to version 4.9.1, an unsafe deserialization vulnerability allows for remote code execution on Wazuh servers. DistributedAPI parameters are a serialized as JSON and deserialized using `as_wazuh_object` (in `framework/wazuh/core/cluster/common.py`). If an attacker manages to inject an unsanitized dictionary in DAPI request/response, they can forge an unhandled exception (`__unhandled_exc__`) to evaluate arbitrary python code. The vulnerability can be triggered by anybody with API access (compromised dashboard or Wazuh servers in the cluster) or, in certain configurations, even by a compromised agent. Version 4.9.1 contains a fix.

- CWE-284 - Improper Access Control
Summary
Wazuh is a free and open source platform used for threat prevention, detection, and response. It is capable of protecting workloads across on-premises, virtualized, containerized, and cloud-based environments. The wazuh-agent for Windows is vulnerable to a Local Privilege Escalation vulnerability due to improper ACL of the non-default installation directory. A local malicious user could potentially exploit this vulnerability by placing one of the many DLL that are loaded and not present on the system in the installation folder of the agent OR by replacing the service executable binary itself with a malicious one. The root cause is an improper ACL applied on the installation folder when a non-default installation path is specified (e.g,: C:\wazuh). Many DLLs are loaded from the installation folder and by creating a malicious DLLs that exports the functions of a legit one (and that is not found on the system where the agent is installed, such as rsync.dll) it is possible to escalate privileges from a low-privileged user and obtain code execution under the context of NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM. This issue has been addressed in version 4.9.0 and all users are advised to upgrade. There are no known workarounds for this vulnerability.

- CWE-94 - Improper Control of Generation of Code ('Code Injection')
Summary
Wazuh is a free and open source platform used for threat prevention, detection, and response. A wrong validation in the `host_deny` script allows to write any string in the `hosts.deny` file, which can end in an arbitrary command execution on the target system. This vulnerability is part of the active response feature, which can automatically triggers actions in response to alerts. By default, active responses are limited to a set of pre defined executables. This is enforced by only allowing executables stored under `/var/ossec/active-response/bin` to be run as an active response. However, the `/var/ossec/active-response/bin/host_deny` can be exploited. `host_deny` is used to add IP address to the `/etc/hosts.deny` file to block incoming connections on a service level by using TCP wrappers. Attacker can inject arbitrary command into the `/etc/hosts.deny` file and execute arbitrary command by using the spawn directive. The active response can be triggered by writing events either to the local `execd` queue on server or to the `ar` queue which forwards the events to agents. So, it can leads to LPE on server as root and RCE on agent as root. This vulnerability is fixed in 4.7.2.

- CWE-476 - NULL Pointer Dereference
Summary
Wazuh is a free and open source platform used for threat prevention, detection, and response. A NULL pointer dereference was detected during fuzzing of the analysis engine, allowing malicious clients to DoS the analysis engine. The bug occurs when `analysisd` receives a syscollector message with the `hotfix` `msg_type` but lacking a `timestamp`. It uses `cJSON_GetObjectItem()` to get the `timestamp` object item and dereferences it without checking for a `NULL` value. A malicious client can DoS the analysis engine. This vulnerability is fixed in 4.7.1.
